Positioned on a large body of water, often visited by a resident hippo, Waterside Lodge in the Thornybush Private Game Reserve is as unique as it is inviting. A forest of beautiful yellow-tinged fever trees in the middle of the camp are a striking feature of this lodge, which is full of cosy nooks and quiet areas to laze away an afternoon.
The game viewing is exceptional at Waterside, especially during dry season when the permanent waterholes attract herds of elephants and buffalo. The birdlife is impressive here too, which adds a further element of entertainment when spending a quiet afternoon on the deck. Twenty Suites are set in beautiful gardens, accommodating two guests each. Two suites share an inter-leading door ideal for families. The Thatched Suites are spacious with large sliding doors opening up onto a private deck, offering a perfect place to relax between game drives. Tastefully decorated each suite also has a small sitting room, and full en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower. Located along pathways in manicured gardens, the suites have been designed to blend into the natural environment. The Family Suites are similar to the Luxury Suites in their layout but are twice as big as they have an inter-leading door between two rooms. They too have a lounge area, private decks and en-suites with separate baths and showers. The Family Suites can accommodate four people and are ideal for families travelling with children.
