The interior design and decor for Simbavati Waterside draws inspiration from the abundant beauty held within the Klaserie Nature Reserve. The aesthetics of the interior design are characterized by refined simplicity, asymmetry, texture, depth of space and the warm colours of nature and aged wood. Décor is organic, including large clay jugs, ceramic and clay pots, baskets, jute carpets and woven products and macrame. Furniture is made of natural materials and is simple sophistication in shape and ‘soul’, emphasizing the comfort and depth of each room. Aged wood, handmade tiles, decorative plaster, concrete, glass, and metal sculpt the environment. Lighting is part of the artwork - decorative and stylish, without compromising on function. The colour palette is simple, with a strong play on whites, stone white, greys, and browns. Brighter colours ‘pop’ subtly as imaginative accents in the different spaces. The Klaserie Game Reserve was established in 1972 as part of the greater Kruger National Park. It is one of the largest private reserves in South Africa, being 60,000 hectares (or 148,000 acres). This vast tract of preserved land has some beautiful trees and riverine vegetation near the magnificent Klaserie River. It has an open fenceless border to the Kruger National Park in the north, and the Timbavati to the south-east. The Klaserie also protects sustainable populations of many endangered species such as wild dog, saddle-billed storks and southern ground hornbills. This is a raw wilderness experience. Abelana River Lodge
This stylish, newly rebuilt 20-room lodge offers spectacular views over the Selati River. The river is home to a plethora of wildlife such as hippo and crocodile and a variety of bird species.
The main area and swimming pool overlook the river and include indoor and outdoor dining areas and a bar, as well as a lounge and fire pit for sharing safari experiences and sightings in the evenings.
All rooms are under thatch with en-suite facilities, including an additional outside shower and spacious deck overlooking the river where guests can spend time relaxing between activities. The rooms are airconditioned with ceiling fans and a mini fridge.
Various dining experiences are offered overlooking the river. Dining options are dependent on weather and guest preferences.
