Djuma Game Reserve – where the big five roam – is situated in the world famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve which is part of the greater Kruger National Park. Djuma safari guides and trackers not only know the ways of the African bush, but are able to follow the various fascinating animals – from lions and elephants to leopards and other nocturnal animals, by reading the signs of the wild and following them even off-road. An African safari is a once in a lifetime experience for many people and thus the quality of the safari is paramount, at Djuma game reserve we make sure that your wildlife experience is very special.
The reserve is named from the Shangaan word meaning “roar of the lion” – just one of the big 5 game animals you’ll find on our doorstep. Djuma Private Game Reserve forms part of the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, bordering on the famous Kruger National Park. There are no dividing fences between Djuma, Sabi Sand and the great trans-frontier national park, blending Djuma’s own 7000 hectares into a magnificent ecosystem that wraps around the eastern corner of South Africa. The reserve enjoys a wealth of diverse wildlife, at ease in their natural and undisturbed surroundings. Visitors to Djuma are treated to some of the best game-viewing opportunities Africa has to offer, without compromising on luxury, fine dining and relaxation. Best of all, Djuma offers a team of long serving and dedicated staff that have made it famous for its friendly and professional service. We wait to greet you as our guests and at the end of your stay, bid you farewell as our friends. Djuma has two lodges, both self-catering and can only be booked as a private camp for up to 10 people. The 5-star Vuyatela Lodge has a funky modern African design and its rates include a chef to prepare your food. In the 4-star Galago Camp, all catering is normally done by the visitors, but a chef can be arranged at an extra cost. Djuma is a medium-sized property within Sabi Sands and has traversing rights with some neighboring properties. This can create congestion and time pressure around sightings as only three vehicles are allowed at any particular wildlife sighting. |
