Kariega
Game Reserve offers you the opportunity of
luxurious accommodation in log constructed chalets and the opportunity to experience the
African Bush in the Eastern Cape. This private Game Reserve is situated in the
malaria-free, upper reaches of the Kariega River Valley, 14 km from Kenton-on-Sea on the
R343 to Salem and Grahamstown and 145 km from Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape
South Africa.
This malaria-free Game
Reserve comprising 5000 hectares of pristine wilderness incorporates contrasting riverine
forest, bushveld and grassland Eco-systems and hosts more than 25 species of game
including Rhino, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, waterbuck and a variety of other
antelope and 270 species of birds amongst which are high soaring Marshall, Crowned and
Fish Eagles which nest on the Reserve. A unique feature is the ability to walk freely and
safely amongst the game.
Accommodation
Ukhozi Lodge accommodates 20 guests in ten superbly appointed
luxury suites crafted from log, with panoramic views from private decks. The suites are
decorated in an African style and allow you to blend natural beauty and splendour with all
the best of human comforts. Each suite has a large en suite bathroom and a fan for those
warm summer nights. During the day and between game drives, guests can soak up the African
sun in the tranquil ambiance of Ukhozis outdoor heated pool. In the evenings, guests
can unwind in front of warm log fires, enjoy sumptuous cuisine or simply share experiences
of the African bush.
Kariega Lodge comprises luxurious and spacious, fully
serviced log chalets, all en-suite with their own viewing decks and some with private
pools. Here you can enjoy complete privacy, spectacular views and intimate contact with
nature. The chalets are decorated in an ethnic style, are very spacious and enjoy complete
privacy and spectacular views. From your deck listen for the cry of the African Fish Eagle
or in the comfort of your chalet, revel in the stillness and silence as night falls.
